Title: "Coastin'"
Medium: Canvas and paint
Find an object and make an art piece with it? This assignment really through me a curve ball but once i started brain storming i came up with some pretty good ideas and this was the winner! These sunglasses are from St. Patty's Day last year when one of my friends broke them and left them at my house - they've been floating around my room since then. Everyday for the past few weeks I've walked past these ear buds in the parking lot of my complex, so i figured i could clean them off and incorporate them into my piece. So here it is, my found art piece, hope you like it!

PS: I named it "Coastin'" because that is the song i was listening to when i came up with this idea.

Title: "Tarpon"
Medium: 8 1/2" X 11" Computer Paper and pencil

Waiting and waiting,
for the fish to take the bait.
Bored, hot, tired, and hungry.

Finally, time to fight!
Dad says, "Reel him in!"
Thrilled, anxious, and excited.

The fight has ended,
The tarpon has now been caught.
Exhausted, proud, and starving.

Title: "Me!"
Medium: 10" X 13.5" Paper and Pencil
When I was told to draw a self portrait I was extremely intimidated by the thought of it. I love to draw and paint, but people are way harder than the cartoons that i have made in the past, but once i started it was a lot more relaxing than i thought it would be. I found a picture of myself on my computer that I feel really shows my personality, which i thought was important since it's a self portrait and should show who I am not just what i look like. This picture was taken of me at my best friend's birthday party and as you can see I was just having a great time. I love to laugh and in this picture that is exactly what I am doing. So, after I found the picture that I wanted, I went online to a photo editing site and used to effects to change the photo to a drawing on my computer. Then, I printed that out and started to draw. As I drew, I grew more confident in my work and really started to relax and enjoy the process. This assignment really made me step out of my comfort zone and draw something a bit more challenging than I would have usually done, and it showed me that I am capable of doing more complex art. I added one of my favorite quotes to the picture because there was a lot of blank space and I thought that the quote fit well with what i had drawn. It is a quote from Walt Disney and says, "laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever."=)
